2. Sourav Ganguly (1767 runs in 1999)

Sourav Ganguly is arguably the finest southpaw that Indian cricket produced. He featured in 113 Tests and accumulated 7212 runs at an average of 42.17. Coming to the 50-over format, the Kolkata-born plundered 11363 runs in 311 games at an average of 41.02. Besides his batting might, he was an astute tactician of the game and led India to many glorious triumphs across formats.

Ganguly was in a rich vein of form in 1999 and piled on runs for fun. The former Indian cricketer made 41 ODI appearances for the Men in Blue and aggregated 1767 runs at an average of 46.50, which comprised four centuries and ten half-centuries.

Ganguly was quite prolific with the bat in the ICC World Cup 1999. He featured in seven games in the marquee tournament and scored 379 runs at an average of 54.14. The former Indian batter also smashed his career-best score of 183 in the 21st match of the competition against Sri Lanka.
