There have been instances of two teammates having a long gap of age between them. When Sachin Tendulkar made his debut, the majority of his teammates when he played his final match in 2013, were very young, some even in their nappies. The instances are plenty, and the numbers are fascinating.

Here are 5 legends who made their international debut before their teammate was born:

1. Javed Miandad and Saqlain Mushtaq

Javed Miandad is a bonafide legend of the game of cricket and he carried Pakistan batting for the much of 1980s. Having made his debut in Tests on June 11, 1975, Miandad played 124 Tests and 233 ODIs in his 21-year career. However, during the 1996 World Cup, Miandad was on his final legs as an international cricketer. He was specifically recalled into the side after a lengthy absence as he wanted to play in the tournament.

Surprisingly, his teammate and ace spinner Saqlain Mushtaq wasn’t even born when Miandad made his Pakistan debut. Mushtaq was born more than a year later in December 1976 than Miandad had made his Pakistan debut.
