The WPL 2023 auction was done and dusted on February 13. UP Warriorz had a great auction and they did a commendable job, forming a well-rounded squad which has a nice blend of youth and experience. They broke their bank for signing top-drawer players such as Tahila McGrath, Deepti Sharma, and Sophie Ecclestone.
The UP franchise was also smart enough to play the waiting game and roped in the likes of Lauren Bell, Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Kiran Nagvire at an affordable price. As the Warriorz bid for glory in the inaugural season, it would be interesting to see what starting XI they come up with.
Here is UPW's best starting XI
1. Alyssa Healy (wk)
Alyssa Healy is a marauder with the bat. She has destroyed bowling attacks with her flamboyant stroke play and made the international arena her happy hunting ground. On her day, the ace batter has taken down even the best of bowlers and stamped her authority on the cricket field.
Healy has made 94 appearances for Australia in the 50-over format and plundered 2639 runs at a strike rate of 100.18. Talking about the T20Is, she has accumulated 2355 runs in 137 matches at a strike rate of 128.26. Besides her batting might, the 32-year-old is a gun wicketkeeper.
A player of Healy’s caliber is an asset to any side and therefore, UP Warriorz acquired her at INR 70 lakh. The Queensland-born would look to bring her game into play in WPL 2023 and set the tournament ablaze with her batting displays.
