Delhi Capitals (DC) have established themselves as one of the most successful franchises in Women's Premier League (WPL) history with two back-to-back appearances in the final. Finishing as table toppers in the league stage, Meg Lanning and Co. dominated both editions throughout the tournament. However, Mumbai Indians (MI) in the inaugural season and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2024 dashed their dream of winning the coveted title.

Apart from their underwhelming performance in the final, the Delhi franchise has been impressive in the second season and has no major flaws to address. Their squad was filled with quality players who have contributed their share in their respective fields. However, some players were underutilized mainly due to team combination.

Let's take a look at the three players who DC underutilized in WPL 2024:

Laura Harris did not get a single game in the 2023 season, but knowing the Australian's potential, the franchise retained her for the second edition. Unfortunately, her fate remained the same this time around, warming the bench throughout the season. Known for her powerful striking in the top order, Harris could not find a place in the team with Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma playing as openers and Alice Capsey at number three.

With only four overseas players making the XI, Harris had competition from Annabel Sutherland, Jess Jonassen and Marizanne Kapp. The 33-year-old could have been fitted in the middle-order, but the franchise did not want to compromise their bowling strength.
