Cricket Australia gives freedom to players on IPL 2021 participation in UAE

The second half of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League is set to be restarted on 19th September 2021 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). And, ahead of the second half of the IPL, one thing that has hogged the limelight is the availability of foreign players who will take part in the tournament.

While it has been confirmed that New Zealand and England players will be available to offer their services for their respective franchises, Cricket Australia has allowed the Australian players to decide on their availability.

A franchise official stated that Cricket Australia will not stop any of their cricketers from participating in the tournament, but a few players can also pull out as well. The official concluded by stating that New Zealand and England players featuring in the tournament is a big boost.

“Cricket Australia will not stop any players but the chances of few players pulling out can’t be ruled out. New Zealand and England players are returning which is a massive shot in the arm,” said the official as quoted by Cricket.com.

A Blockbuster clash to restart IPL 2021

The 2021 IPL edition will be restarted with a blockbuster clash, as the Chennai Super Kings and the Mumbai Indians (MI) will lock horns against each other when the tournament commences once again on 19th September 2021. The summit clash of IPL 2021 will be played on 15th October 2021.

The Delhi Capitals (DC) outfit is currently occupying the top place in the points table, while the second, third, and fourth spots in the table are occupied by Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Mumbai Indians respectively.

Also, Delhi Capitals’ batsman Shikhar Dhawan is currently the leading run-scorer in the tournament. The left-hander has pummelled 380 runs in the 8 innings that he has played in the tournament at an average of 54.29. Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer Harshal Patel is the highest wicket-taker in the tournament currently and has scalped 17 wickets at an average of 15.12.
