2017 has been a captivating year in terms of cricket being played, both at the domestic and international arena. The teams have strained every muscle to thrash their opponents. While some tasted success, others had to embrace despair and agony. Several players have brought forth their skills and enthralled the audience with their aura on the field.

After a scintillating year, several journals are releasing the Best XI of the year in all formats. Recently, The Guardian, a British Daily released the Best Test XI of the year. Cricket Australia released the best T20 XI of the year on their official website. The team was constituted considering performances in both domestic and international games.

A devastating lineup

Chris Gayle and Brendon McCullum take the openers’ slots and rightfully so, considering their performances for several franchises. Evin Lewis had a riveting year as he racked up his second T20I ton against India, played some blinders in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and also smashed the best bowling lineups with sheer disdain. Hashim Amla’s class also found a place in the team. Shakib Al Hasan has also been drafted into the team on the back of some marvellous outings.

AB de Villiers has also been in great nick in the shortest format of the sport. New Zealander Luke Ronchi has been selected as the wicketkeeper. The pace attack also looks healthy as it has Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz in the ranks. Sunil Narine and Rashid Khan have been frugal and also have nipped out wickets. The attributes have fetched them the spinners’ slots in the lineup.

Here’s the lineup:

Brendon McCullum (New Zealand), Chris Gayle (Windies), Evin Lewis (Windies), Hashim Amla (South Africa), AB de Villiers (South Africa), Luke Ronchi (wk) (New Zealand), Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh), Sunil Narine (Windies), Mohammad Amir (Pakistan), Wahab Riaz (Pakistan), Rashid Khan (Afghanistan)
