There is no doubt that Virat Kohli is one of the best limited-overs batsmen who has ever played the game. His numbers in both T20Is and ODIs will give you an idea of his sheer brilliance. However, in the past couple of years, Rohit Sharma has sort of caught up with the Delhi batsman. The way Sharma has batted in white-ball cricket is also a testament to his caliber.

So, often you might come across this debate of who is better between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. To settle this debate, the cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra appointed a panel of experts. The four experts were journalist Boria Majumdar and former Indian cricketers Deep Dasgupta, Sanjay Bangar, and Nikhil Chopra.

Majumdar and Nikhil went ahead by saying that Kohli is a better batsman in the limited-overs cricket. The duo pointed out at the fact that the Indian captain has a great impact while chasing. “Kohli has a peripheral vision when it comes to chasing”, Majumdar said in the Youtube video uploaded by Aakash Chopra.

Kohli is a better batsman in ODIs, Rohit better in T20Is: Nikhil Chopra

After reviewing stats, we found out that Kohli averages 68.33 during chases in ODI cricket while Sharma’s average lies around 48.70. In T20I chases, the Indian captain has an unmatched record. He averages 82.15 while his deputy averages around 26.88. It should be noted that Sharma has played way more matches in the T20I format than Kohli.

Deep Dasgupta and Sanjay Bangar went with a diplomatic call. Both of them said that the two batsmen are on par with each other in limited-overs cricket. However, Aakash Chopra went on to ask another question. He enquired with his panelists about who among Rohit and Virat is a better T20 batsman.

Nikhil Chopra was a firm believer that Rohit Sharma is a better batsman than Kohli the shortest format. Majumdar went on to say, “I think Kohli is a much better batsman in ODIs while both of them are at par with each other in the T20Is.”

Aakash Chopra, during the conversation, also pointed out that Sharma has four T20I centuries, more than anyone in the world right now. However, Kohli hasn’t got a century in the shortest format. He also explained that it was difficult to compare the stats of both the batsmen. According to him, Rohit opens the innings and bat against the new ball. Kohli, on the other hand, has always batted at no.3 or no.4 in the ODI format.
