Cricket fans dejected as Krunal Pandya's positive COVID-19 result postpones the 2nd T20I

India were going to play the 2^nd match of the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka on July 27 before a piece of shocking news broke in the camp. Hours before the commencement of the game, it was reported that all-rounder Krunal Pandya has tested positive for COVID-19. During the regular COVID-19 test of the team, Pandya tested positive for the virus and the 2^nd T20I was called off.

The 2^nd T20I of the series is now set to take place on 28^th July with the final one being pushed to July 30. All the close members who were in touch with Krunal have been isolated immediately and are following quarantine rules. If the rest of the squad tests negative on July 28, the 2^nd T20I would be followed.

“Krunal has tested positive and the T20I on Tuesday has been postponed and will happen on Wednesday if all the others test negative. The players are currently isolating,” a close source in the know of developments stated as reported by Outlook.

Shikhar Dhawan praised Krunal for his game in 1st T20I

Talking about the series so far, India won the ODI series 2-1 against the home team Sri Lanka and Suryakumar Yadav was declared as the player of the series for his exemplary batting show. The T20I series is currently on between the two teams where 1^st T20I was won by India by 38 runs and Bhuvneshwar Kumar was declared as the player of the match for picking four wickets. SKY shined yet again with the bat as he smashed a classy fifty to assist India’s score towards a respectable one.

“I thought we were 10-15 runs short. I feel we played quite well after losing early wickets. It was about one or two boundaries, we knew we could get going. He(SKY) is a great player and we enjoy watching him bat. He took the pressure from me and the way he plays calculated shots was amazing to watch. They were playing well, we knew our spinners will do the job on that wicket. Bhuvi bowled well, so was KP,” said Dhawan after winning the first T20I.
