Who else could be the best bowler of the year than the one who sent back Virat Kohli to pavilion more times than anyone else. The tall offie from down under has been the backbone of Aussie bowling line-up for a long time now. After topping the most wicket column in 2017 with record 63 wickets in 11 matches, the 31-year-old continued to spin a web this year as well.

Lyon is one of those spinners who has the ability to excel even on surfaces that offer little support and against batsmen who possess the art of playing spin. At an appealing economy of 2.68, he has 49 scalps in 10 matches with half of the innings to go in the calendar year. The New South Wales-born off-spinner was the hero for Australia in their series-levelling win against India at Perth in the ongoing four-match Test series, taking 5 and 3 wickets in two innings.
