Indian bowlers continue to struggle in the ongoing 2022 Asia Cup tournament with a poor display against Pakistan in the last match. Virat Kohli scored 60 runs off 44 balls to help India put 181, but bowlers failed to defend as Pakistan won by five wickets.

Star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and pacer Avesh Khan have failed to make an impact in UAE so far. Chahal took his first wicket of the tournament in the last match but conceded 43 runs. He has bowled all possible 12 overs so far and has conceded runs at an economy rate of 7.75. With Ravindra Jadeja missing due to injury, Chahal is India's prime spin option in the tournament.

Ravi Bishnoi was India's best bowler in the last match against Pakistan, with a wicket while conceding the only 26 runs. But Indian management made a big and surprise change for the Sri Lanka clash by bringing in R Ashwin in place of Bishnoi.

Kuldeep Yadav brings a different skillset: Wasim Jaffer

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer highlighted Chahal's form and has suggested that India should look at other options in form of Kuldeep Yadav for the upcoming 2022 T20 World Cup. He also said that Indian management should have dropped Chahal instead of Bishnoi during his discussion on Bat Bricks7 presents Run Ki Runneeti show on Cricktracker just before the India-Sri Lanka clash on Tuesday.

"I would have dropped Chahal and played Bishnoi and Ashwin as Yuzi's current form is not up to the mark and he is performing below expectations. But let's see and i hope he gets results," Jaffer said. "I also want to keep Kuldeep Yadav in the mix for the T20 World Cup. If Chahal is not performing, you need another wrist spinner. They have Bishnoi but Kuldeep brings a different skillset and has been excellent in the IPL and whenever he got the chance."

Deep Dasgupta also joined Jaffer in the discussion and suggested that India should go back to Mohammad Shami. The experienced pacer has not played T20I cricket since the conclusion in the 2021 World Cup. Shami took 20 wickets in 16 IPL matches this season to guide his team Gujarat Titans to the tile win.

"I don't know what Mohammad Shami has done wrong in the T20Is for India. At least he should be in the mix for the T20 World Cup if not in the final 15-member squad," Dasgupta said.
