"When we were bowling in the powerplay, I was pretty nervous. I was told to keep it calm an do my thing, that gave me the confidence today. I don't think too much about results, just concerned with my execution. If I execute, I will get my rewards. Sometimes I have to change my plans depending on the batters. I was struggling with a bit of a niggle for two weeks, but the support staff all backed me and that's been the main reason for my form," Pathirana said.

"The young wicketkeeper scoring those three sixes helped us a lot, that proved to be the difference. We needed those 10-15 extra runs for this kind of venue. In the middle phase, Bumrah bowled really well. I feel we were spot on with our execution with the ball despite them scoring some great shots. I would have taken 6 overs 60 at the powerplay. You need to be on the mark with bowling and batting at this venue. Our Malinga bowled really well today, he nailed those yorkers. Not to forget, Tushar and Shardul also did well. I think we need to keep it simple, encourage all to be in a good headspace and continue the same way. Jinks was carrying a bit of a niggle, so thought it was better for him to open. I'm fine batting anywhere, plus it is the added responsibility as the team captain," Gaikwad said.

"It (target) was definitely gettable, but they bowled pretty well. Pathirana was the difference. They were smart with the plans and their approach. They got the hang of it, there's a man behind the stumps (Dhoni) who tells them what's working, that helps. It (pitch) was holding up a bit and getting difficult. It was about batting well and keeping the intent. We were going quite well (in the run chase) till Pathirana came into the attack and took those two wickets. It was about what is best at that time, we could have done something different. I like to play percentage cricket, it would have been difficult for him (Dube) against seamers rather than spin. We are on the road for the next four games, need to play good cricket, need to keep the intensity high," Hardik said.

"Would have bowled first, something we can't control. Need to do well in all three departments. This is the beauty of IPL. always fluctuating. Good contest for both teams, two teams up for grabs. Team playing better will win. Pathirana comes in for Theekshana, that's the only change," Gaikwad said.

"We would like to bowl first, dew will come into play. It looks better than the last game, expecting a lot of runs. Need to stick to the basics. Winning is very important to get the momentum. We were able to win two games convincingly. That's the beauty about IPL, everyone has to contribute. Your team will be able to achieve goals eventually. The dew started coming post 10 overs. It gets heavier in the evening. Same team," Pandya said.

Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bowl first.

"Terrific game in store with two of the most successful teams in the IPL. The expectation is for a lot of power hitting because the pitch we are on has the same dimensions as the RCB vs MI game. The shorter boundary to the left is only about 59m, and it is 65m to the right. The previous game here was a high scoring game, but when you venture longer into the tournament the wickets tend to play a bit differently. This surface is a lot drier and when you use the same pitch consecutively then the wicket will show some semblance of dry patches. It still looks a beautiful wicket, not a wicket where you get rolled over for a 100 odd runs. There will be runs but today we could see the spinners play in the powerplay. They are spraying some anti-dew substance onto the outfield, but dew could play a factor. You certainly want to be chasing on the surface," suggests Ian Bishop and Kevin Pietersen.

"On this ground even the good balls can go the distance. Need to identify batter's strengths and bowl accordingly to avoid conceding boundaries at this venue. Got to stick to my plan against a particular player and set the field accordingly. The defeats we have conceded have been close games, haven't lost them by big margins. If you play good cricket, play your shots, chasing any target is possible here. You'll get to see a good contest as Mumbai Indians are a very good team. There are not many meetings or discussions when we play MI, this rivalry is hyped I think. Just need to focus on cricket when we are on the field," Jadeja said.

The biggest game of the league stage is upon us as Mumbai Indians are all set to host Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede Stadium tonight. However, neither Rohit Sharma nor MS Dhoni are in charge this time. Who are you backing tonight? Regardless, a cracking game is expected.
