THE DAY ENDS HERE!
Alright, WHAT A DAY OF CRICKET! Goodnight for now. See you all tomorrow!
Winning skipper Scott Edwards said:
"Extremely proud. We came in with high expectations. We had very good players. Happy to get the first win out of the way. Hopefully, few more wins. We do a fair bit of research. We come up with a few matchups. Some days it works and some days it doesn't. We were in decent positions in the first few games but then fell away. I am sure there will be plenty of fans staying up and watching this, Extremely happy with the win," Edwards said.
Losing skipper Temba Bavuma said:
"I think we had them at 112 for 6. We shouldn't have allowed them to go past 200. We dropped the ball there. Still we were confident with the chase. But they were able to extract some deficiencies in our batting department. We were clinical against Australia. We could have controlled the extras. The fielding wasn't up to the standard. Not the same standard we had against Australia. We need to have some conversations with the boys. You got to let the emotion to seep in. It will hurt. Our campaign is not over by any stretch of imagination. That was a proper display from them. They put us under pressure throughout. Good luck to them," Bavuma said.
Scott Edwards adjudged POTM:
"Over the last couple of games too many of our middle order batters were being out before the end of the game, so I wanted to take it deep and hope a couple of guys around me chip in and we are lucky enough to get that score in the end. He's (Roelof van der Merwe) good fun to bat with, he runs hard and hits into some strange areas which is good fun to watch from the other end.it I just got him (Aryan Dutt) on strike and he was clearing the ropes, he's got the talent and it's all there to see tonight. Proud of the group. We came into the tournament where we wanted to have a chance in the semi finals and if you wanna do that you gotta beat teams and South Africa are one of the favourites the way they are playing, so it is a good win for us," Edwards said.

Afghanistan two nights ago, Netherlands tonight. Outstanding from @KNCBcricket . This is no flash in the pan either. They prepare well, they work hard, and they are exceptionally well led by Scott Edwards. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. & they not done yet.

So much to like about the way they go about their business. Scott Edwards was sensational in the last 10 overs with the bat and then the Netherlands’ bowlers did the job in style. #NEDvsSA pic.twitter.com/kYpV0Rby0A

The picturesque Dharamsala will host the South Africa versus Netherlands clash in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, on Tuesday, October 17. The two teams have had contrasting starts to their campaigns. While the Proteas are unbeaten in the two games they have played so far, the Netherlands have a couple of losses to show for their efforts.
Temba Bavuma's men have been on a dream run as of late. Australia visited their beautiful country to play three T20Is and five ODIs. The tourists whitewashed the Proteas in the T20Is and won the first two games in the ODI series. However, the hosts bounced back to win the series 3-2. They have carried the momentum into the World Cup with wins against Sri Lanka and Australia. In the game against the Asian side, South Africa scored 428/5 in the first innings, breaking the record for the highest team total in the history of the marquee event. The bowlers conceded 326 runs on the batter's paradise in Delhi but managed to bowl out Dasun Shanaka's men. South Africa hammered Australia in the following game, winning by a mammoth 134 runs.

The batters have been in exemplary form, with Quinton de Kock leading the way with consecutive centuries. Aiden Markram has also been impressive with one century and one half-century to show for his efforts. The likes of Bavuma, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, and Marco Jansen have also been among the runs. The bowlers also did a commendable job against Australia, bundling out the five-time champions for just 177. Therefore, South Africa will be oozing with confidence, heading into the encounter against the Netherlands.
Scott Edwards' side gave Pakistan a scare during their match on the second day of the tournament. However, the 'Men in Green' showed their experience and won the match by 81 runs. Bas de Leede was the star of the show for the Dutch side, picking up four wickets and scoring a fifty against Pakistan. In their second game, the Netherlands were overpowered by New Zealand. The Netherlands fell 99 runs short, chasing a target of 323. Colin Ackermann scored a solid half-century in this game.

Logan van Beek missed out on the game against the Kiwis as he injured his hamstring during the match against Pakistan. He is a very crucial player in the Dutch side as he can win games with both bat and ball. The Netherlands will hope that he gets fit in time to play the encounter against South Africa.
The Netherlands travelled to South Africa to play a couple of ODIs against the home side earlier this year. The Proteas won both games convincingly. The Dutch side will have to play their A-game to muster hopes of an upset.
