After defeating the Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday, Punjab Kings (PBKS) would be looking to do the same once again as they host DC at the HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala. PBKS kept their hopes alive with a huge win and now will be looking to add two more points which will take them one step closer to a spot in the playoffs.
The reverse fixture saw Delhi deciding to bowl first and restricting the Punjab Kings to a total of 167 in their allotted 20 overs. Prabhsimran Singh was the only standout player with him registering his first-ever IPL hundred while the second-highest score was Sam Curranโs 20 off 24 deliveries.
In reply, DC got off to a flying start with David Warner and Phil Salt adding 69 runs during the powerplay. Just when people thought that they would see a similar finish to that of the game between DC Vs RCB, things took a drastic turn when Delhi Capitals lost their next 6 wickets for just 18 runs.
Punjab Kings spinners Harpreet Brar and Rahul Chahar were instrumental in cleaning up the first six wickets which made it difficult for Delhi to come back into the contest. Eventually, the game was done and dusted when the Capitals managed to score only 136 handing Punjab a 31-run victory.
This is the first match of this yearโs TATA IPL to happen at Dharamsala with the second being against the Rajasthan Royals on Friday. Punjab would be sitting with 16 points if they win their last two games while Delhi became the first team to be knocked out of the tournament after a poor outing against the aforementioned team.
