After a morale-boosting 65-run victory in the second game, an upbeat Indian(IND) team will lock horns with New Zealand(NZ) in the third and final T20I at the McLean Park in Napier on Tuesday, November 22. Since the series opener at Wellington was forced to be abandoned due to rain, this is a decider and a win for India will mean that they seal the series, while a BlackCaps victory would level the three-match series.

The Kiwis were pretty ordinary in all three departments in the previous fixture even though veteran pacer Tim Southee’s hat-trick in the final over prevented India from racing past 200. Their batting looked completely off-colored and it was courtesy of skipper Kane Williamson’s half-century that the Kiwis could get to 126 runs. However, even his strike-rate came under the radar as he scored only 61 runs off 52 balls.

India, on the other hand, also have a lot to ponder over their misfiring top order. It was a complete ‘One Man’ show from Suryakumar Yadav who helped in getting to a winning total of 191. Yadav went on to register his second century in T20 Internationals after which the bowlers worked in tandem to put the Kiwi batters under immense pressure.

Meanwhile, Kane Williamson is set to miss this game due to pre-arranged medical appointment. Mark Chapman has been called into the squad and might slot in at number three. India are also likely to make a few changes in order to give opportunities to benched players.

Venue: McLean Park, Napier

Date and Time: November 22, 12:00 PM IST

Pitch Report:

The McLean Park wicket is one of the best batting surfaces in New Zealand and the batters are expected to make merry once they are well set at the crease. There have been a few high-scoring encounters on this batting-friendly surface and another one could pretty much be on the cards. Therefore, the captain winning the toss could bowl first.

Probable Playing XIs for NZ vs IND

New Zealand:

Finn Allen, Devon Conway (wk), Mark Chapman, Glenn Phillips, Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham/Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee (c), Adam Milne, Ish Sodhi, Lockie Ferguson

Probable Top Performers from NZ vs IND

Probable best batter: Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan must have felt that he missed out on playing a good knock. He scored 36 off 31 deliveries opening the innings and would be keen on making his bat talk in the final T20I. The left-hander has a chance to seal his position in the playing XI as India look to reset their T20I team.

Probable best bowler: Tim Southee

Tim Southee might have been let down by his fellow bowlers in the last game, but the veteran pacer took matters in his own hands and not only did he register a hat-trick in the final over by accounting for Hardik Pandya, Deepak Hooda, and, Washington Sundar but also conceded just five runs in his final over to finish with figures of 3/34 from his four overs.
