In their ninth match of the tournament, Sydney Thunder will lock horns with the Brisbane Heat at Bellerive Oval on Friday, November 4. Now looking back, the Brisbane-based team already defeated the Sydney Thunder earlier in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) and thus, will be confident of adding two more points to their tally. However, Thunder, who are second last in the table may want to change their gears and come hard at Brisbane with the hope of qualifying for the playoffs.

The Rachael Haynes-led side in their last match suffered a defeat at the hands of the Sixers as the team couldn’t chase a target of 164 runs. Their openers failed to give them a good start and thus the pressure was completely on the middle order. Now despite Haynes’ and Chloe Tyron’s best efforts, the team could not do what was required. The bowlers have room for improvement as Sammy-Jo Johnson, one of their best bowlers conceded at an economy of almost 10 while others failed to put pressure on the opponent.

Coming to the Brisbane Heat, the team was in fantastic form before they lost to Adelaide Strikers earlier in the season. Since then, they lost a couple of matches in a row and thus, desperately need a win to remain in the race for qualification. The Georgia Redmayne-led side lost to Perth Scorchers in the last match as their middle-order batters let them down. Bowlers have done well with Jess Jonassen picking three in the last match.

Probable Top Performers from ST-W vs BH-W

Probable Best Batter: Georgia Redmayne

Georgia Redmayne has been tremendous so far in the tournament. With a strike rate of 109.22, the 28-year-old scored 225 runs from seven matches so far in the tournament. With that, she also is the leading run-scorer in the competition and against a relatively weak bowling attack of Thunder, she can cause havoc in the middle.

Probable Best Bowler: Jessica Jonassen

The 29-year-old Jessica Jonassen is the joint-leading wicket-taker in the tournament. With an economy of 6.88, the spinner picked up 13 wickets so far in the tournament. Given her form, she can be really dangerous against Thunder.
