Sitting at the bottom of the league table, Melbourne Renegades have been terrible so far in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). The Sophie Molineux-led side has managed to win just one out of their seven matches and thus are under tremendous pressure to get the job done when they face Sydney Thunder on Sunday, November 6 at Bellerive Oval at Hobart.

The team from Sydney are not in great form either. Sitting second last at the table, the Rachael Haynes-led side managed to win just two out of their nine matches and are on the verge of being eliminated. After finishing seventh in the table in the last season, the team was expected to make a turnaround but that didn’t happen.

In their last match against Brisbane Heat, the Sydney-based team showed conviction but their middle order failed completely and the team suffered a defeat of 14 runs. Among bowlers, the 24-year-old Belinda Vakarewa picked up three wickets while others blanked.

Meanwhile, the problem with the Renegades has been their inconsistency. Sri Lankan international Chamari Athapaththu gave them a good start in the previous match but none of the middle-order batters could capitalize on that. Their bowlers have done reasonably well in the last match but couldn’t inspire the team to a win.

Pitch Report:

The wicket at Hobart favours the batters but the spinners will come into the picture as time passes. Anything above 160 will be a good score on this pitch. The skipper winning the toss would like to bowl first.
