Abhishek Sharma is one of the most impressive finds of Sunrisers Hyderabad team. He has gained a lot of attention for his amazing strike rate and excellent six-hitting ability. He has scored 288 runs in just eight games and is currently the second-highest scorer for the team. At the age of 23, he is in the race to win the Emerging Player of the Season award.

However, Yuvraj Singh, who has been a mentor for the southpaw, feels different. He stressed that the SRH opener needs to mature a little more before he can be considered for international selection. Yuvraj's comments have come ahead of the Indian team selection for the T20 World Cup 2024, which is scheduled to be held in June in the United States and West Indies.

"Abhishek is almost there but I don't think he is ready for the World Cup right now. For the World Cup, we have to take an experienced side. Obviously some guys have played for India. After the World Cup, he should be prepared to play for India. That is what he should focus on. Coming six months will be very important for Abhishek,” said Yuvraj as quoted by Cricbuzz.

He has to learn to take singles and know how to rotate strike: Yuvraj

The southpaw has hit more sixes than fours in the eight games he has played, with 26 sixes and 21 fours. Although his shots over long-on and mid-wicket have been impressive, Yuvraj advised him to focus on mastering the art of strike rotation and learning how to play out a good bowler. The former India all-rounder was impressed with the young batter's ability to strike the ball efficiently and maintain a healthy strike rate of around 218.

"He has the ability to play big shots, the big sixes which he has been hitting are very good, but I think he has to learn to take singles and know how to rotate strike. He has to learn play out the bowlers who are bowling well and target other bowlers. I think work has to be done on that aspect," Yuvraj added.
