Former India cricketer Anjum Chopra hopes Meg Lanning-led Australia have a ‘bad day’ against India ahead of the high-octane semi-final clash in the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup 2023. The two cricketing powerhouses are set to take the field for the blockbuster clash at Newlands in Cape Town on Thursday, February 23.

Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. cemented their place in the final four of the marquee event after a win against Ireland. Meanwhile, the dominant Aussies are comfortably placed in the top spot of Group A, after four back-to-back wins. Anjum Chopra, former India skipper, opined that it is inevitable that every side has a bad outing and added that she hoped for Australia to endure the ‘bad day’ against India in the semi-final clash.

“Australia have a strong base. Their domestic structure is really good. They have many replacements available. If one player is not doing well, then the other steps in. They know how to win matches from tough situations. They are aware of how to perform in big games. Basically, they know everything,” Anjum told on her YouTube channel while previewing the action-packed contest.

“But everyone has at least one bad day. They are also a cricket team; we are also a cricket team. They can have at least one bad day. I just hope Australia have a bad day against India in the semi-final and India have a good day. I want a very good contest with a good crowd at Newlands and an Indian win,” she added.

Sixth title could be on the cards for Australia

Notably, the Aussies have five T20 World Cup titles in their illustrious cabinet and are a force to be reckoned with. The defending champions will be on the lookout to cement their spot in the summit clash of the event after a win against the Women in Blue.

In addition to this, Australia thrashed team India in a five-match T20I series 4-1 in an away series played in December 2022. On the other hand, team India will look to overcome their failures against the Aussies and seek to hand an ‘upset’ considering that the latter has won 22 of their 30 T20I meetings overall and the former winning only six.
