The All India Men's Senior Selection Committee was supposed to unveil team India squad for the upcoming Asia Cup at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, August 19. The announcement, which will happen at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Headquarters in Mumbai, has apparently been postponed until further notice owing to a flight delay, and will not go as planned now.
The flight delay has possibly caused the delayed arrival of chief selector Ajit Agarkar at the meeting venue, which has been further damped by the incessant rains in the city. Several areas of Mumbai have been set on red alert by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), which has also allowed slow and less traffic movement, causing troubles to the public.
Now, these rains and flight delays have also become the reason for a postponement in squad announcement, according to reports. Senior journalist Amol Karhadkar has shared the details of the same via his official social media handle.
Latest visual on JioHotstar have confirmed that Agarkar arrived at the BCCI Headquarters around 2PM in the afternoon, and since, it will take a considerable amount of time for discussions with skipper Suryakumar Yadav, it can be assumed that the final squad announcement will be officially done only around 3PM, meaning a delay of at least an hour and a half from the supposed time.
