Ravi Shastri expressed his excitement ahead of the five-match T20I series between India and Australia, highlighting Abhishek Sharma's prowess as a flamboyant batter in the shortest format of the game. The former India head coach believes that Abhishek will take the game away from the Aussies if he can stay at the crease for some time.

The Punjab batter has been in red-hot form, recently finishing as the highest run-getter in the T20 Asia Cup 2025 in September. In seven innings, he slammed 314 runs at an average of 44.86 and a strike rate of 200. The 25-year-old registered three half-centuries during the continental competition.

"He's a gun T20 player. If he's in for a while, there's guaranteed entertainment. Irrespective of whether you're Australian or Indian, you'll enjoy it. He has the ability to take the game away from you. You don't want him out there too long because he can create chaos," Shastri said on FOXSports.

Shastri opined that Abhishek's ability to go after the bowling from the outset could be very beneficial for the tourists in the high-voltage matches against Mitchell Marsh and Co.

“His preparation, his belief in his own ability, the range of shots that he has, and then the mindset to go out there and back himself from ball one. From the get-go, he'll go after the bowling. That's where he can be extremely dangerous, very explosive, and quietly confident about his own ability," he added.

Abhishek has had a fantastic start to his T20I career. The Amritsar-born, who made his international debut against Zimbabwe last year after the T20 World Cup, has amassed 849 runs in 23 innings at an average of 36.91 and a strike rate of 196.08 in the shortest format. He has notched up five fifties and two centuries, including a highest score of 135 against England earlier this year.
