Australia face South Africa in a three-match Test series scheduled to commence on December 17. The series is a part of the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 cycle for which both sides are on the lookout to earn a qualification for the summit clash of the event.
The two sides will be locking horns for the first time since the infamous Sandpapergate scandal which took place in South Africa. Speaking about their head-to-head records, the heavyweights have contested in 98 matches wherein the Aussies have registered 52 wins whereas the Proteas have won on 26 occasions with 20 matches resulting in draw.
The hosts will face one of the most hostile pace attacks when they collide with South Africa for the red-ball series. That said, the Aussies are coming off massive wins in the longest format against England and West Indies and will aim to maintain their fine run.
On the other hand, the visitors take their first assignment since the screeching halt in their T20 World Cup campaign in the Super 12 stage. In any case, an exciting series awaits as both sides will look for results in their favour to cement a spot in the summit clash of the WTC final.
