The 27-year-old Matthew Short signed a new three-year deal with Adelaide Strikers which will keep him in the franchise till 2026. In the last edition of the marquee tournament, Short smashed 458 runs in 14 matches and also picked up 11 wickets in the process. Courtesy of the same, the cricketer was adjudged BBL Player of the Tournament even when his team finished seventh on the points table.

In the 12th edition, he also registered his personal best score of 100* against Hobart Hurricanes. This knock of his helped the Strikers pull off the highest successful run chase in the history of the tournament (230). Meanwhile, speaking about his new contract, Short expressed his happiness to re-sign with the club and thanked them for showing faith in him.

“It feels great to have re-signed. The Strikers showed the faith in me and gave me the opportunities, and I am trying to pay them back with my loyalty,” Short was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

On the other hand, veteran Australia all-rounder Moises Henriques signed a three-year deal with Sydney Sixers. “To be able to play the whole time with one club and stay at the Sixers and have the opportunity to lead throughout that time is pretty special, to be honest,” the 36-year-old stated after re-signing with the Sixers, Notably, he has most-capped and highest run-scorer for the Sixers in the history of the competition. He also has the opportunity to become the first player to captain a BBL side on more than 100 occasions. He has led Sixers 94 times to date.
