BCCI estimated to earn US$ 230 million per year in ICC's new finance model

According to the new finance model proposed by the ICC, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to earn 38.5% of the annual earnings in the 2024-27 cycle. Notably, the revenue distribution model projects the ICC obtaining US$ 600 million, upon which the apex cricket board in India is likely to take the larger share of the pie as compared with the other boards.

It is understood that the BCCI will likely earn US$ 230 million per year of the ICC earnings in the new model in the forthcoming cycle. In comparison with the other two big sharks, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the Cricket Australia (CA) could earn US$ 41.33 million (or 6.89%) and US$ 37.53 million (or 6.25%), respectively. 

Solely from the media rights sale, the ICC makes over US$ 3.2 billion with regards to the overall annual figure. The larger chunk of the media rights come from the Indian market as Disney Star paid over US$ 3 billion for four years. Apart from the 'Big Three' (BCCI, CA, and ECB), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is projected to earn over US$ 30 million among the remaining nine Full Members. 

BCCI close to aggregating Billion-dollar figure

As per the current projections by the ICC, the BCCI would roughly make an aggregate earning of US$ 924 million in the new cycle. However, there is a possibility that the cricket board could breach the billion-dollar figure assuming the ICC makes a sharp uptick in its aggregate earnings.

This essentially means that the BCCI would have an 82% rise over the second-highest earner, the ECB, which will only receive US$ 165 million in the 2024-27 cycle. The new proposed model by the ICC is yet to go in full swing as Full Members have not yet passed their feedback on this regard. Assuming that the deal is finalised, there could be a possibility of a dip in broadcast rights values for certain nations in the Full Member list.
