Speedster Haris Rauf was involved in a heated argument with the on-field umpires during Rangpur Riders' latest Bangladesh Premier League 2023 (BPL) clash (match 25) against in-form Sylhet Strikers on Friday (January 27). The incident happened during the 20th over when Strikers were struggling at 88/9 while batting first at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

The ongoing edition of the BPL has been making headlines due to some questionable decisions by umpires lately. Earlier, star all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan was involved in a similar incident with officials and now another incident has come to light and highlights the ongoing struggles in the league.

Robiul Haque bowled the last over and gave away just four runs to restrict Rangpur Riders to 92/9. His first delivery was a bouncer to Rejaur Rahman Raja while the second delivery, another bouncer, hit the batter on the helmet. Riders' Physio attended the batter quickly while the on-field umpires called it a no-ball in what turned out to be a belated decision. The officials took their time to give the no-ball decision and that clearly irked the Riders' players.

Captain Nurul Hasan was quick to have a word with the on-field umpires Gazi Sohel and Prageeth Rambukwella and was quickly joined by Pakistani speedster Haris Rauf. Both cricketers were spotted having a long discussion with the umpires but the decision on the no-ball stayed and the game resumed.

However, the decision played no big part in the game's result as Rangpur Riders easily chased the 93-run target with six wickets and 26 balls remaining. Despite the win, Rangpur Riders are struggling on the fourth position with four wins from the opening seven games. Rauf missed the opening three matches due to his involvement in Pakistan's ODI series against New Zealand.

The 29-year-old pacer took Thisara Perera's wicket while conceding just 19 runs against Strikers in the last game. He has taken six wickets in four innings at an impressive economy rate of 6.25 in BPL 2023.
