Sourav Ganguly, former India captain, believes that the current bowling attack of Men in Blue cannot be defined as the finest ever. The Rohit Sharma-led side, who are having a dream run in the ongoing ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, have ticked all the boxes so far in the tournament. It is India's pace attack which consists of Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah which left a mark.

Meanwhile, Ganguly stated that the pace attack of the 2003 World Cup pace attack consisting of Ashish Nehra, Zaheer Khan, and Javagal Srinath was exceptional. "I can't say this is the best-ever Indian pace attack to date. In the 2003 World Cup, (Ashish) Nehra, Zaheer (Khan), and (Javagal) Srinath also bowled brilliantly," Ganguly told Sports Tak.

The 51-year-old then expressed his fascination for Bumrah, Shami, and Siraj and also stated that Bumrah makes a huge impact on the team's success.

"But yeah, it's exciting to see Bumrah, Shami and Siraj bowl. It's a big difference when you have Bumrah. There's pressure from both ends as it is always about bowing in pairs. Bumrah makes a massive impact on the other two as well," he added.

The former BCCI president went on to heap praise on Shami for his outstanding form in the ongoing tournament. Shami, who was benched for the first four matches, is the leading wicket-taker of the side with 16 wickets at an average of 7.00 and an economy rate of 4.30.

"Yes, Shami should have played in the XI a lot earlier. Look at the impact he has made," the former cricketer further said.
