Lucknow Super Giants got over the line against five-time champions Mumbai in a thrilling contest in Lucknow to climb to third place in the IPL 2023 points table. It was LSG's left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan, who held his nerve to defend just 11 runs in the final over despite Tim David and Cameron Green in the middle for Mumbai.

Young Indian left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan enjoyed a breakthrough season in last year's IPL for the newly introduced franchise. However, a shoulder injury that nearly put an end to his playing career, derailed his progress in the game. The 24-year-old pacer, who failed to impress on his return to the competition, came good for his side to seal two crucial points against Mumbai.

Following his last-over heroics, former Indian pacer RP Singh highlighted Mohsin's tactics in the death overs. The 2007 World Cup winner stated that the LSG pacer was mixing up things quite nicely against the two hard-hitting batters and was reacting to the situation and bowled according to the strengths of the batter.

“Mohsin Khan did some out-of-the-box things with his bowling. He bowled a length ball, a short good-length ball, after that a yorker, bowling with a better plan. He knew against which batters the yorker would work well. Cameron Green is a proper batter and his bat speed is a little different. For him, short or good length worked well from Mohsin Khan. Sometimes, you have to back your skills. Everything cannot be planned. Certain things need to be dealt with your instincts in certain moments,” RP Singh said on JioCinema.

The pressure went up after Ishan Kishan went out: RP Singh

Talking about the losing team, the former left-arm pacer quirked that Ishan Kishan's wicket changed the complexion of the game as Mumbai failed to stitch any meaningful partnership after Rohit Sharma and Kishan's dismissal in quick succession.

"The pressure went up after Ishan Kishan went out. I also think that Nehal Wadhera and Suryakumar Yadav were unable to rotate the strike well. Nehal ended up playing a lot of dot balls and Suryakumar Yadav just had to stand on the runner’s end for a while. He probably didn’t like it and it probably was one of the reasons behind the loss,” he added.
