Batting, wicket-keeping, captaining, acting, commentary and now bowling - Dinesh Karthik is a man of all seasons. Against Afghanistan, when India's win was just a matter of time, captain KL Rahul gave the ball to Dinesh Karthik, who hardly got a chance to bat for India in the Asia Cup. Even though he maintained line and length, Ibrahim Zadran smashed Karthik for 18 runs in the final over of the match.

Karthik previously bowled 120 deliveries in the domestic circuit and also 12 balls in the T20 cricket. However, this is for the first time in his 18-year-old career when he bowled in an international match. Rishabh Pant, who was keeping in the match, encouraged the 37-year-old and that has gone viral in the social media.

After his fourth delivery in the final over, Pant was spotted encouraging Karthik by saying, “DK bhai control toh hai” (DK bhai, you got the control). Now, it is unlikely to see Karthik bowl further in his career but India is keeping their options open. Virat Kohli was also spotted bowling an over earlier in the tournament.

Aakash Chopra expressed his disappointment over Dinesh Karthik’s over

With Rahul giving the ball to Karthik for the final over, Aakash Chopra in the commentary box expressed how Arshdeep Singh or Deepak Hooda should have bowled the final over. Chopra stated that if he is not in India’s plan, why would he be given the ball.

Following his views about the matter, a lot of people on social media also expressed the same. Just like Aakash Chopra, fans on social media stated that giving the ball to Karthik was just a waste of time.

Nonetheless, India registered a huge win over Afghanistan (101 runs) and won their final match of the Super Four. After being knocked out of the Asia Cup, India's main focus will now be on the T20 World Cup. Before that, Team India is scheduled to take on Australia and South Africa at home.
