As the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 approaches, all eyes are on the Indian cricket team and their search to end a long-standing drought of ICC trophies.
For head coach Rahul Dravid, this marquee event carries added significance, as it will be his final attempt to guide the senior men's team to glory before his tenure concludes after the tournament. In the middle of all the pressure, cricket legend Brian Lara has offered a clear-cut message to Dravid on how India can finally break the jinx.
Under Dravid's guidance, the Indian team has consistently performed well, reaching the finals of the 2023 ODI World Cup. However, the ICC title has remained out of their hand. Lara believes that India's star-studded line-up alone is not enough to guarantee success, it's the strategic approach that will make the difference.
“Indian team, just looking from the outside, in previous Cups, be it T20 or 50-overs, I just feel they are lacking that final plan in terms of how they are going to go about. It doesn't matter how many superstars you have; it matters how you are going to go about winning this World Cup, what plans you are going to have in place, and how you are going to structure your innings or attack,” said Lara as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Lara's advice comes after the team's recent struggles, where they have often stumbled in crunch situations despite having a formidable squad. The former West Indies captain urged Men in Blue coach to chalk down a clear, well-thought-out plan to navigate the tournament's high-pressure situations.
“I hope Rahul Dravid can get his players together and can devise a plan for India to win the T20 World Cup,” Lara added.
