Mohammed Siraj ended up securing six wickets (6/70 in 19.3 overs) as England were all-out for 407 in their first innings of the second Test of the ongoing five-match Test series at Edgbaston. This was the first six-fer at Edgbaston by a visiting pacer since 1993.

This was also Siraj's fourth five-wicket haul in Test cricket. Notably, each one of his fifers have come away from home and against different oppositions: Australia (2021), West Indies (2023), South Africa (2024), and now England (2025). He was also the most economical bowler out of the six who bowled in the innings.

Siraj's first three wickets were Joe Root (22 off 46), Ben Stokes (zero off one), and Chris Woakes (five off 17). He dismissed Root and Stokes on consecutive deliveries in the second over of the third day's play. Both of them were caught behind by Rishabh Pant. Siraj's last two wickets came in the form of Josh Tongue (zero off two) and Shoaib Bashir (zero off two). While Tongue was pinned right in front, Bashir's stumps were disturbed with a nip-backer from outside off stump.

Apart from him, Akash Deep also impressed after India picked him in place of Jasprit Bumrah. The latter was rested to manage his workload. Akash did not disappoint as he ended with four wickets to his name. Amongst his four dismissals was the crucial one of centurion Harry Brook (158 off 234).

Brook's wicket marked the end of his stellar 303-run stand with wicketkeeper-batter Jamie Smith. The latter was stranded on 184 at the non-striker's end. His fantastic knock came off just 207 deliveries and comprised 21 fours and four sixes.

The other batters apart from Brook and Smith contributed only 46 runs in total. There were as many as six players from the English camp who departed without scoring; Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope were two of them. England's 407 came in 89.3 overs.
