Akash Deep was the standout bowler for India in the second Test at Edgbaston, helping the Asian side create history as it won its first Test match at the iconic venue in nine attempts. India dominated proceedings throughout the second Test and eventually won by a massive margin of 336 runs to level the five-match series at 1-1.

Akash, who reportedly had a niggle that forced him to miss the first Test, replaced Jasprit Bumrah at Edgbaston. The 28-year-old had the new ball on a string in both innings and finished with match figures of 10/187, which is the best by an Indian bowler in England.

The England crowd is known for appreciating quality cricket, especially in the longest format of the game. English fans compose sporting songs, especially in football, where almost every star has a chant of their own. Cricket is also not far behind in terms of the singing that goes on, often stemming from the section where the ever-vocal Barmy Army is seated. However, an opposition player getting a chant of his own is quite rare.

After being one of England's architects of the Edgbaston triumph, Deep was treated to a song which was sung in his honour by an English fan outside the stadium. Set to the tune of Let It Be by The Beatles, the song is a testament to the Bengal pacer's hard work that catapulted him to glorious recognition.

India needed to take seven wickets on Day 5 of the Edgbaston Test to draw level in the series. The start of play on the final day was delayed due to rain and the Indian fans must have been worried. However, thankfully, the rain Gods relented, and not many overs were lost. Deep's fiery burst at the beginning of the morning session yielded the wickets of Ollie Pope and Harry Brook. The Three Lions never really recovered after the early setbacks and despite Jamie Smith's counter-attacking 88 off 99 balls, the hosts were bowled out for 271.
