"In Test cricket, you have to play each ball on its merit," Dilip Vengsarkar mentioned.

Yashasvi Jaiswal had a phenomenal start to the England tour, scoring a splendid century in the first innings of the first Test at Headingley, Leeds. However, the runs have dried up since that knock, as he has registered only one half-century in the next five innings.
In the third Test at Lord's, Jaiswal was dismissed in both innings by Jofra Archer. However, his extravagant shot to get out in the second innings has garnered a lot of criticism. He tried to play a pull shot in the second over of the innings as India were chasing a 193-run target on a tricky surface. However, the ball went off the top-edge and wicketkeeper Jamie Smith caught it without any fuss.
Former India cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar said that Yashasvi has a lot of potential, but he will have to curb his naturally aggressive instinct and play each ball on its merit.
"Jaiswal is a good player with a lot of potential, but he needs to curb his aggressive instincts at times. In Test cricket, you have to play each ball on its merit. A slight mistake and you’re out. Since his hundred, he hasn’t been among the runs, but consistency is key at the highest level. I expect a lot from him in Test cricket," Vengsarkar told RevSportz.

Furthermore, Vengsarkar also refused to delve into claims that Shubman Gill’s altercation with Zak Crawley affected his batting. The former India chief selector lauded the Indian Test captain's batting and the temperament he has shown throughout the series.
"I don’t think so (Incident with Crawley affecting Gill's batting). That incident was something Gill felt very strongly about and he made his feelings clear. But I don’t think it affected his batting at all. He’s a top-class player, and his temperament and skill level have been on display throughout the series. He played superbly at Headingley, and I don’t think the incident at Lord’s had an impact on him," the former batter said.
