Gautam Gambhir is back again with another controversial opinion regarding Virat Kohli and this time he feels Kohli should have shared the ‘Player of the series’ award (Sri Lanka ODIs) with his teammate, Mohammed Siraj

India and Sri Lanka recently played out a one sided ODI series where the hosts clean sweeped the opposition. India were almost perfect in all departments and deserved to win the series. Almost everyone in the team made their contribution count and gave their full effort to strengthen their places in the team.

Kohli was the stand-out performer from the series as he notched up two centuries in the three match ODI series. He scored 283 runs at an average of 142 and a strike rate of 137 and was one of the main reasons as to why India won the first and the third ODI of the series. For his epic performance in the series, he won the ‘Player of the series’ award.

Former Indian cricketer and now commentator, Gautam Gambhir feels that Kohli wasn’t the only exceptional performer for Team India in this series. Gambhir felt that Siraj should have also been rewarded for his outstanding performance in the series. He added that Kohli should have shared the award with Siraj since both of them deserved it.

"For me, I think he was on par with Virat Kohli. There should have been a joint Man of the Series because he was exceptional and these were beautiful batting wickets. I know we are always tempted towards batters getting big hundreds but I think Mohammed Siraj was absolutely exceptional too in this entire series,” said Gambhir on Star Sports.

Undoubtedly, Siraj had an outstanding series and was one of the key bowlers for India throughout the series. He notched up nine wickets with a bowling average of just over 10. He has been one of the most consistent bowlers for India since his debut and is showing why he can be so lethal whenever he is given the ball by his captain.
