Virat Kohli silenced his critics once again with his phenomenal knock against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022 clash on Sunday (October 23). India kicked off their campaign with a thrilling last-ball win by four wickets at Melbourne Cricket Ground after Kohli's unbeaten 82* knock.

Prior to the 2022 Asia Cup, the former Indian captain was struggling for big knocks, which led many to criticize him. Few also suggested that he should retire from the shortest format and focus more on red-ball cricket. But Kohli shut off his critics with a century at the 2022 Asia Cup and has been in sensational form since then.

But his latest knock against Pakistan came when India needed it the most and many, including Kohli himself, believed that this was his greatest T20 innings so far. Kohli stayed firm after India lost early wickets while chasing a 160-run target against a star-studded Pakistani bowling unit. He broke and created many records during his knock but most importantly remained unbeaten to guide India to a thrilling win.

It's very hard to keep these guys down for too long: Brett Lee

Everyone who criticized Kohli during his rough patch has been in awe of his knock and are still buzzing with his performance against Pakistan. The former Australian cricketer Brett Lee has taken a jibe at Kohli's critics and said that it amuses him if someone attacks Kohli. Lee also added that the Indian batter is a legend of the game and it's impossible to keep him down for a long time.

"I found it quite amusing when someone of the calibre of Virat Kohli was attacked. Those who had attacked Kohli didn't have a look at his records and his performances in the three formats of the game," Brett Lee told reporters while speaking during an interaction organized by Legends League Cricket on October 24.

"There are times when you don't get hundreds or you don't get fifties. That's all part of professional sport. What I do know is Virat Kohli is a legend of the game and it's very hard to keep these guys down for too long," Lee added.
