Former domestic cricketer and current coach cum analyst Amol Muzumdar lavished praises for India's young wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh, after her recent exploits for India in the ongoing Women's T20 World Cup, in South Africa.

India have started their T20 World Cup campaign on a positive note, having already registered two back-to-back victories in their group stage fixtures, and are creating their route fine enough for a place in the semi-final. In their first two games, Inda clinched victories against Pakistan and West Indies.

"I enjoyed watching this match a lot because if Deepti Sharma was successful in bowling, I feel Richa Ghosh has become a new sensation. It is a game-changing moment when Richa Ghosh enters the match," the 48-year-old said while speaking in the post-match discussion on Star Sports.

The former right-handed batter stated that to see a young cricketer like Richa Ghosh getting the hang of the competitiveness of international cricket at such a tender age is extremely impressive. Also, Muzumdar went on to state that he thoroughly enjoyed himself when he watched the clash between India and West Indies. He noted that Deepti Sharma was phenomenal with the ball, while Richa Ghosh did a fantastic job with the bat.

This World Cup is throwing up new, new stars: Muzumdar

Muzumdar made a special point with regard to the 19-year-old as he believes that she has become a key middle-order batter already. In extremely crunch situations when India might be struggling with the bat or might just need some pinch-hitting, they have the wicketkeeper-batter as a great option to be deployed in the middle to boost India's scoreboard and choke opposition bowlers. Praising her innings against Pakistan, he further said:

"In the last match also, it was a pressure game between India and Pakistan, there she came and played a good knock. It means we are seeing new stars, this World Cup is throwing up new, new stars."
