Punjab Kings bagged much-needed two points against a struggling Delhi Capitals after a brilliant comeback victory in Delhi. Following their morale-boosting victory, Punjab Kings skipper Shikhar Dhawan was full of praise for Harpreet Brar and Prabhsimran Singh, who made stellar contributions in the victory.
The visitors were in a spot of bother after losing three of their star batters in the powerplay. But Prabhsimran Singh came to the rescue for his side, registering a swashbuckling maiden IPL century to take his side to a competitive score. The second innings followed a similar pattern as the Delhi openers dominated the powerplay.
However, Harpreet Brar changed the complexion of the game by scalping four crucial wickets, including three of Delhi's top four batters. Shikhar Dhawan was pleased by the performance of both youngsters and lauded them for their match-winning efforts following their victory.
“The way the bowlers brought us back in the game it was amazing. All credit to our spinners and also our fast bowlers as well. I told Harpreet to keep it slow and target the wickets and the way he stood up and took those wickets and especially getting those left-handers out was really fantastic.
“It was turning from 4th over and playing that kind of knock is just incredible and amazing from Prabhsimran. That knock actually helped us reach that total," Dhawan said in the post-match presentation.
We need to stay calm and not get too excited: Dhawan

Dhawan, who was in the hunt for the IPL 2023 Orange Cap earlier in the season, has fallen well behind his competitors after a series of quiet outings.
“When I’m with the youngsters I try to stay young and feel good that the boys have taken responsibility and the maturity as well. Very happy with the way they are growing and maturing. This win has brought a lot of confidence for us. We need to stay calm and not get too excited. Staying calm has helped us and need to do the job in the next couple of games," he concluded.
