Gujarat Titans opener Shubman Gill has been single-handedly knocking out the biggest stars of the IPL 2023 with match-winning hundreds. Gill's second century of the season came against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, handing Virat Kohli yet another setback before the playoffs. Gill's record-breaking 129-run knock against Mumbai in Qualifier 2 on Friday successfully ended MI's bid for a sixth IPL title.

Former India pace bowler Atul Wassan lauded Shubman Gill ahead of the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT). Dhoni, according to Wassan, could be the next victim of Shubman Gill's hitting after Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. With the Gujarat Titans in the final for the second consecutive season, Gill will have the biggest challenger in the form of legendary MS Dhoni's CSK. Wassan stated that the Gujarat Titans made a big impact in the tournament with a good lineup.

Gill has looked composed throughout: Wassan

"I feel Gill will gobble up the trio of Dhoni, Kohli, Rohit because of the way he is batting. I feel next in line is Mahi. Even the Gujarat Titans team has looked excellent. Mumbai were in the game with Suryakumar Yadav there, but Gujarat have a good bowling depth as well. Despite coming in as a new team, they have made an impact. We had seen such formidability from CSK. Talking about Gill, he is a well-grounded player. Anyone could lose focus given the money and fame in IPL, but Gill has looked composed,” Wassan was quoted on ABP News.

The Gujarat Titans will face the Chennai Super Kings in the much-anticipated final match on Sunday, April 28 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Gill solely carried his club to the finals with a remarkable century against the Mumbai Indians in 'Qualifier 2' in Ahmedabad on Friday, May 26. The GT opener has an impressive record at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The 23-year-old batsman has scored 533 runs on this ground with an astounding average of 76.1 and a strike rate of 171.4. He has hit two hundred and three half-centuries at this place with the final game at the same venue still left.
