Team India ran riot against a listless Sri Lanka in the third and final game of the series to complete another whitewash of the visitors. While the batters, especially Virat Kohli, punished the visitors in the first innings, Mohammed Siraj rattled the Lankans with a sensational spell of fast bowling in the second innings. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma hailed him as a 'rare talent' despite the pacer missing out on a historic fifer.

Rohit Sharma led from the front in the series finale, stitching a commanding stand with Shubman Gill. The latter went on to register a fluent century, his second in ODI cricket and first on Indian soil. But it was former Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who propelled India to a daunting total after his record-breaking innings. The Indian skipper was pleased with the series victory and commented on the progress of Mohammed Siraj, who was one of the stars for India in the three-match series.

“It was a great series for us. Lots of positives. We bowled well, got wickets when we needed and the batters throughout the series piling on the runs was good to watch. Good to see how he (Siraj) was bowling and he deserved all those slips. He is a rare talent, the way he has come up over the last few years is good to see. He has come from strength to strength and that's really good for Indian cricket," Rohit said after the final game of the three-match series.

Siraj returned with exceptional bowling figures of 4/32 in his ten overs, missing out on a five-for by a whisker. He was a nuisance for the Sri Lankan batters throughout the series and was India's trump card with the ball. Rohit lauded the Indian pacer for his efforts and revealed that he is still improving his game which is great for the team.

“We tried all sorts of things (to get his fifer) but it didn't happen, unfortunately. But the four wickets are all his and fifers will come. He has a few tricks up his sleeves which he is working on and it's there to see. We'll get to the drawing board quickly (for the next series) and see how the pitch is, then decide how the combinations will be. They (NZ) are coming off a series win in Pakistan, so it won't be an easy task at all,” the Indian captain added.
