Rajasthan Royals' young Indian batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal has been one of the best performers with the bat this season, captivating the fans with several swashbuckling innings, including a maiden IPL century. Former England skipper and his Rajasthan teammate Joe Root has lauded the youngster's hunger and desire.
Sanju Samson's side might miss out on a playoff spot after a series of disappointing results have derailed their IPL 2023 campaign, but he would be quite pleased with the emergence of Yashasvi Jaiswal in the 16th edition of the tournament. Jaiswal, who is one of the leading run-getters in the competition this year, has taken his game to the next level this time around.
While Jaiswal's stroke-making ability has caught the eye this season, former England skipper Joe Root was impressed by the youngster's hunger for learning the nuances of the game. The English batting maestro revealed that the young opener always tries to improve his game by learning from other players and has got a tremendous work ethic.
“You could see it (India debut) tomorrow. One thing that is quite impressive with him is he is clearly very hungry and he has got great desire and belief in his ability. He is making sure that he continues to keep looking to get better, keep learning which he does and he has got a great temperament in that respect and he has got a brilliant work ethic. He is always asking and trying to learn from other players and from people around him," Root was quoted as saying by News18.
There is no area of real weakness at this minute which you can see: Root
The batting ace further stated that there isn't any visible weakness to Jaiswal's game at the moment as the young dasher has looked quite comfortable against both spin and pace. Root feels that a maiden India call-up is just around the corner for the southpaw.
“I think he has got all the elements, there is no area of real weakness at this minute which you can see. He has dominated spin and seam throughout this tournament and you can see him with the confidence he is playing with now is amazing," he added.
