'He is so lucky' - Twitter left unimpressed with Rishabh Pant's selection in India's T20 World Cup squad

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named a 15-member squad for the upcoming 2022 T20 World Cup slated to be played in Australia this year. Meanwhile, the selectors have named Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant as the wicketkeeper-batters for the upcoming tournament. 

It must be noted that Pant had a very poor outing in the recently concluded 2022 T20 Asia Cup. The left-handed batter was given a few chances but he failed to make an impact with the bat and was duly criticized by cricket experts. 

Rishabh Pant averages around 24 in T20Is

Talking about Pant's numbers in T20I format, the left-handed batter has played a total of 58 matches and has amassed 934 runs at an average of almost 24. He plays at a strike rate of 126.21 with only three fifties to his name. Pant has the highest score of 65* in the 20-over format. He has also bagged three ducks in the format. 

Despite not being at his best during the recently concluded Asia Cup, the selectors have shown their faith in Pant as the left-handed batter has played several match-winning knocks for his team during crunch situations and is likely to play a crucial role in the upcoming tournament. 

Talking about another wicketkeeper-batter in the team, Dinesh Karthik hardly got any chance to show his batting capabilities in the Asia Cup and the right-handed batter will want to feature in the playing XI as well. It remains to be seen if Pant or Karthik will be named as team India's first-choice wicketkeeper-batter in their tournament opener against Pakistan.

Not a fanboy of Sanju Samson, I know he lacks consistency but what good has Rishabh Pant done in T20Is ? He was given opportunity in last WC, failed in Asia Cup also, then why can't someone else get Chance ?
