‘He was a net bowler till last year’ - Aakash Chopra lauds Nitish Kumar Reddy for sensational knock against PBKS

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra recently lauded the performances of Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy.

The 20-year-old put in an excellent performance against Punjab Kings in the 23rd game of the IPL (Indian Premier League) 2024, scoring 64 runs in 37 deliveries to help SRH post 182 in the first innings. The youngster even took a wicket in the second innings as his side won the game by two runs.

Aakash Chopra was thoroughly impressed eeing his performance and reflected on his time with Chennai Super Kings, where he was just a net bowler.

"The Hyderabad batting stumbled at the start. It seemed at one stage that even 150 might be difficult. However, Nitish Reddy. He was a net bowler with Chennai till last year and hit a six off the last ball to win the last match against Chennai, and here also he scored runs and decent runs,” Chopra said in a video on his YouTube channel. 

"The kid bats well. He has the might. In the first 15 years of this tournament, there were very few Indian finishers. That's why whoever can finish, his price at the auction goes through the roof. Abdul Samad played a short knock but it was also important: Chopra

Furthermore, Chopra talked about the knock of Abdul Samad against Punjab Kings. Batting in the middle order, the 22-year-old scored 25 runs in 12 deliveries, hitting five boundaries and pushing his side towards a competitive total.

"Abdul Samad played a short knock, but it was also important because you get a fighting total once you go past 180. The big names, whether it was Aiden Markram, Travis Head, or Heinrich Klaasen, didn't score runs but Indians in the Hyderabad team came to the fore," he said.
