Indian cricket has drastically changed since the dawn of the new century as the nation has produced several top-class cricketers who have helped them win many tournaments. Earlier, India was known for producing top-quality spinners who were capable of bamboozling batter with their variations. However, over the past few years, the nation has produced many good pacers who’ve shone all across the world and helped India win Tests overseas.

The former legendary West Indies seamer, Sir Curtly Ambrose, has been mighty impressed with India’s pace factory and lauded Indian seamers recently. Ambrose stated how India used to be a spin-dominant nation in the previous century and has now got numerous fast bowlers at their disposal.

"When we used to talk about India in the past, we quickly thought... spin. But they have produced some good fast bowlers. Like Kapil Dev, a great all-rounder. Now there is Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj. They are wonderful players," Ambrose told Rev Sports.

The legendary seamer further showered praise on Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah and was impressed with his unconventional bowling style.

"I do like Bumrah a lot because he is so different. He's not the conventional fast bowler with a long run-up and other attributes. He has a short run-up, walks a bit, takes two or three strides and jumps to deliver. He is totally different but highly effective. That's his style and it works for him," he added.

Notably, Jasprit Bumrah is going through rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru following successful back surgery. The speedster was suffering from a stress fracture which has kept him out of action since September 2022. With the ODI World Cup 2023 approaching fans are eagerly waiting for Bumrah’s comeback to help India lift the coveted trophy at home.

Bumrah is on the brink of making a comeback to Indian side

According to the latest update by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical staff, Bumrah is in the final stages of his rehabilitation. Moreover, it also came to light that he is bowling with full intensity in the nets under the supervision of medical experts who are present at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). The medical team will make the final decision on his comeback following his participation in the practice games organised by the NCA.

Meanwhile, speaking of his much-awaited return, it was speculated that Jasprit Bumrah will most likely be a part of the second-string team of India, which is expected to travel to Ireland to play a series with them. Now only time will tell as to when Bumrah will really make his full-fledged comeback into the Indian team, especially with the upcoming ODI World Cup around the corner, as it is slated to commence on October 5, in India.
