The ongoing Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh has continued to become increasingly frustrating for hosts Pakistan. The side found themselves on the backfoot on day 4 of the clash after Bangladesh managed to post a mammoth 565 runs in their first innings.

The pitch, which has continued to favour the batters more and more, has often come under scrutiny. Seeing the side’s exceptional performance with the bat, many have come forward and questioned the quality of pitches in play in Pakistan. There were high hopes that the new administration would work on such matters and that the quality of pitches for home Test matches would be improved. However, the pitch in Rawalpindi has exposed the same issues with the board. Highlighting the frustration, star pacer Naseem Shah expressed his disappointment on how the pitch played so far.

“You have to say it out honestly. I believe we have had enough series where we had such pitches. they did their best to prepare a pitch that was helpful, but I think because of the heat, or excessive sunshine, the surface wasn't quite helpful. We have to think on how we can get the home advantage, because you have to get a match result at any cost, we didn't get the help we expected from the pitch. But everyone tried their best,” Shah said during the press conference.

It's not my expertise but we have to use home advantage: Shah

Furthermore, Naseem Shah was asked about how Pakistan will be looking to take advantage of home conditions, replying to the same, the ace pacer opined that if green pitches cannot be maintained, then spinners can be given some help.

“It's not my expertise but we have to use home advantage. If we can't make green pitches that can help fast bowler, give us pitches which help spinners. Test cricket has progressed a lot now. The fans are also attending matches in this heat. You feel the need to entertain them. You shouldn't feel you are facing challenges while playing the game yourself,” Shah concluded.
