'I didn’t see any of Asia Cup, I saw him' - Pat Cummins expects a challenge from Virat Kohli in upcoming T20I series

The defending champions and the hosts of the upcoming T20 World Cup, Australia, are currently gearing up for a high-voltage T20I series against hosts India. Australian fast bowler and red-ball skipper Pat Cummins has revealed that he did not watch much of the recently concluded Asia Cup but noticed Virat Kohli's glittering century in the tournament.

While the Indian team bowed out of the continental tournament in the Super 4 stage, the Men in Yellow were engrossed in a tense Chappell-Hadlee series against rivals New Zealand. The Australian ace admitted to have not followed the Asia Cup but commended Kohli for his return to form. He also reckoned that it will be challenging for the Aussies to contain the Indian star in the upcoming three-match series.

“To be totally honest, I didn’t see any of that tournament (Asia Cup). I think Sri Lanka won. Honestly, I didn’t see any of it. I saw Virat Kohli, I think he scored a hundred, yeah he’s a class player, he was always going to return to form at some point in time. He’s going to be a challenge this next week," Cummins was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

'I think you need to adapt really quickly to the Indian conditions' - Pat Cummins ahead of the T20I series

Cummins, who has been one of the regular participants of the IPL, reckoned that the players will need to adapt to the Indian conditions. The pitches are usually slower compared to those in Australia, and the boundaries are smaller too. But the Aussies have got a wealth of experience in playing in these conditions as several players, including Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis, are well accustomed to these conditions.

“I think a lot of games in India are played at a different pace as compared to Australia, the boundaries are normally a bit smaller. I think you need to adapt really quickly, you will have some days where the wicket is a bit slower, then cutters, and those types of things are really important for the bowlers. So, everyone here has played a lot in India and everyone understands it. It is a format you have to be up for, and if it does not work on the day, then you need to move on quickly from it," he added.
