Australian great Shane Warne's ex-wife Simone Callahan has slammed Channel Nine's new television mini-series on the late cricketer. The Australian series named 'Warnie' is scheduled to air on June 25. 'Warnie' was filmed in Melbourne, and it narrates a dramatised version of Warne's sensational cricketing career. Australian actors Alex Williams and Marny Kennedy will be playing the role of Warne and Callahan, respectively.

Callahan said that she will not read much about the mini-series, remarking that it is unkind and mean-spirited. The 53-year-old also said that Warne is no more, asking the broadcasters to let him rest in peace. Notably, the spin wizard passed away due to a heart attack aged 52 on March 4, 2022, while on vacation in Thailand.

"I haven't wanted to read into too much about it, but I think it's a bit unkind and mean-spirited to be honest. He's just passed, let him rest in peace. And for the kids, I just believe that they're not showing any compassion at all by putting this out there in such a short amount of time after this has happened. To be honest but that's how I feel about it," Callahan told the Herald Sun.

Earlier, the cricketer's eldest daughter Brooke Warne voiced against Channel Nine after they made the announcement of making the mini-series on her father. Brooke said that Channel Nine are 'beyond respectful' against her father, who has spent 23 years as a commentator for the network's cricket coverage.

"Do any of you have any respect for Dad? Or his family? He did so much for Channel Nine, and now you want to dramatise his life and our family's life six months after he passed away? You are beyond disrespectful," Brooke wrote on Instagram.

Meanwhile, 9 Network previously said that they look forward to collaborating with the family as filming continues. They also claimed that the mini-series will be a fitting tribute to the Australian legend.
