Former cricketer Ambati Rayudu wants Rohit Sharma to play for Chennai Super Kings in 2025. He added that if legendary cricketer MS Dhoni retires from cricket after the upcoming season, he can even lead the five-time champions in the cash-rich league. Notably, with Hardik Pandya’s return to Mumbai Indians, things have suddenly changed in the franchise, as the all-rounder was appointed as the new captain, which was followed by multiple cricketers putting cryptic stories on Instagram.

The matter further escalated when Rohit’s wife Ritika Sajdeh called out Mark Boucher’s comments to be misleading after the latter claimed that the opener hasn’t done well with the bat in the last couple of editions and to free him from some burden, the franchise decided to take the call. Since then, neither any of the cricketers nor the management have said any word regarding the situation.

When Rayudu was asked about the matter, he stated that the India skipper can play IPL for at least five to six more years. He added that any team would love to have a player of his calibre and added that if he is unhappy, the star cricketer can join CSK in the coming season.

“Rohit Sharma can play IPL for the next 5-6 years. if he wants to captain, the whole world is open for him. He can easily captain wherever he wants. I want Rohit Sharma to play for CSK in 2025, if MS (Dhoni) retires then Rohit can lead as well,” Rayudu said while talking to News24.

Meanwhile, the 36-year-old is expected to join the Mumbai Indians camp after a short break. He played all the five Test matches against England in which India won 4-1 under his leadership. He is expected to take at least a week’s break, before gearing up for the T20 fever, as IPL is set to begin on March 22 in Chennai. However, Mumbai Indians will play their opening game against Gujarat Titans on March 24 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
