Delhi Capitals (DC) have once again got off to a forgettable start to their IPL campaign having lost both of their opening fixtures so far in the tournament. The Rishabh Pant-led side lost their opening game against Punjab Kings by four wickets and later lost against Rajasthan Royals by 12 runs.

Delhi will next face defending champions Chennai Super Kings in their next fixture on Sunday, March 31 at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam. Ahead of the game, head coach Ricky Ponting has hinted at the possible comeback of star opener Prithvi Shaw in the playing XI.

"Yeah, he's (Shaw) definitely pushing for it. He has worked hard in the last couple of weeks. Obviously, our team make-up in the first game without obviously (Anrich) Nortje being in allowed us to play four overseas batsmen. So by doing that, we pushed Mitchell Marsh to the top of the order, which pushed Prithvi out of the side," said Ponting.

"So, yeah, we'll have a really good look at Prithvi at training and see how well he plays in the nets. And if he impresses everybody today, we'll definitely consider him for selection. We feel that a really good game is just around the corner for us. In fact, I am sure we will have a more positive intent going into this game," he further added.

DC opening with David Warner and Mitchell Marsh

Notably, DC have been opening the innings with the pair of Australian duo David Warner and Mitchell Marsh. Warner has been in good form so far registering scores of 29 (21) and 49 (34) in the two matches respectively. However, Marsh hasn’t been able to convert his starts scoring 20 (12) and 23 (12) in the two games so far.

Furthermore, captain Rishabh Pant has also failed to impress in the two innings so far with scores of 18 (13) and 28 (26) to his name. In the bowling department, Khaleel Ahmed and Kuldeep Yadav have been in good form and will be eager to continue their good run to help their side register their first win of the season.
