If you don't want batting from spinners against USA, you can bring in Kuldeep Yadav: Navjot Singh Sidhu

With two back-to-back wins on the trot, India are close to making it to the Super 8 of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Their bowlers have done a terrific job so far while among the batters, Rishabh Pant and skipper Rohit Sharma have been effective. Ahead of their match against USA, former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu suggested that the team doesn’t need to change the winning combination but they can try Kuldeep Yadav if they don’t need the batting of either Ravindra Jadeja or Axar Patel.

Sidhu noted that the team doesn’t need any change to the playing XI as the combination looks set but going forward, the conditions in West Indies may favour the spinners, and hence Kuldeep can prove to be an important asset.

“There is no need for any experimentation when you have the winning habit and rhythm. If it ain't broke, don't mend it. Many times an arrow is flying and you take it on your back. There is no need for that because you have a combination,” Sidhu said on Star Sports.

“The biggest jigsaw is to fit the combination. Team combination is different, different blocks and you have fit those blocks. You have that combination. Yes, you can do one thing, if you don't want batting from your two spinners against USA, you can bring in Kuldeep Yadav,” the 60-year-old added.

Kuldeep can come in place of Axar: Sidhu

Sidhu remarked that Kuldeep’s trajectory makes him an exciting option and added that the star spinner can replace Axar Patel in the coming games. However, he remarked that the Gujarat-born all-rounder was terrific against Pakistan and expects the team management to be in a dilemma.

“You (the batters) are playing balls that are coming straight but either Kuldeep or Yuzi Chahal delivers the balls above eye level. So it can happen that you say he (Kuldeep) can come in place of Axar. However, Axar performed splendidly in the last match. So it is a dilemma,” Sidhu said.
