The Emirates Cricket Board organised the inaugural season of the International League T20 earlier this year and fans flocked to the stadiums to watch some of the biggest stars in the cricket world in action. The second season of the six-team tournament promises to be a bigger spectacle with Pakistani players also taking part this time. Some high-profile names like Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi, David Warner, Mark Wood, and many more will be seen in action in the tournament.
The first edition of ILT20 began on January 13 while the final was played on February 12, earlier this year. The Gulf Giants defeated the Desert Vipers by seven wickets in the summit clash to become the inaugural champions of the league. On 'X', formerly known as Twitter, the official account of ILT20 confirmed the window for the second season. The tournament will run in the window between January 19, 2024, and February 18, 2024.
34 matches will be played in the tournament across three venues - Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah. Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Desert Vipers, Dubai Capitals, Gulf Giants, MI Emirates, and Sharjah Warriors will be competing in the event. Each team will face each other twice as there will be 30 league matches. The top four teams will progress to the play-offs. In a statement released by ILT20, it has been mentioned that the tournament schedule will be announced soon.
ILT20 season 1 was the second most-watched cricket league in India
In the aforementioned statement released by ILT20, it was noted that the inaugural season of the cash-rich league garnered an impressive 367 million views from around the world. It was also mentioned that ILT20 season 1 was also the second most-watched cricket league in India.
Recently, the league unveiled a star-studded roster of new signings for the upcoming season. The teams will complete their squads by inducting additional players from the UAE into their teams. The selection process and other details regarding the same will be communicated shortly.
