Over the years, the IPL (Indian Premier League) has done a spectacular job of bridging the gap between international players, giving them yet another way to compete against each other at the highest level. The recent IPL 2024 clash between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants held at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday, May 17, was another such example.
The on-field camaraderie was on display once again as LSG skipper KL Rahul and veteran MI batter Rohit Sharma were captured sharing a light-hearted moment after the game.
After the game, KL Rahul was brought forth to the post-match presentation ceremony, where he talked about his side’s performance against MI and his future in T20 cricket as well. It is worth noting that KL Rahul was not selected in India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup as the team decided to pick Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson as keeper-batters.

Talking about the same, Rahul made a witty remark about India skipper Rohit Sharma and revealed that he will be glued to the screen supporting the Indian team in the tournament.
"I'm on my father-in-law's team... on his side. We'll both be cheering for 'Sharma ji ka beta' for the upcoming World Cup and we'll be glued to the television and sending all our love to the Indian team," Rahul said.
It is worth noting that before the start of the IPL, the promotional advertisements for the tournament showed Rahul, Rohit, and Bollywood actor, the LSG captain's father-in-law Suniel Shetty. The commercial shows Shetty ignoring son-in-law Rahul and pampering Rohit because of his allegiance to the Mumbai Indians. The LSG skipper's comment post the game was in context to this ad involving the trio.
It depends on where I stand: Rahul
Furthermore, KL Rahul talked about his batting position in T20 cricket. The star batter, despite managing to score runs, has done so at a low strike rate throughout the IPL 2024, which has seen many fans consider him changing his position to bat.
"Maybe, maybe not, there's not much T20 cricket coming up [for me] now. It depends on where I stand and what I need to do to get back in the team, I'll think about what the team needs,” Rahul said.
