Australian opener Travis Head recently opened up about the fierce India-Australia rivalry, suggesting that the Men in Blue will be desperate for revenge if the two cricketing powerhouses clash in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final.
After Australia's victories over India in the World Test Championship and ODI World Cup final last year, Head believes an India-Australia title decider would be incredible. The two nations have developed an intense sporting rivalry across formats in recent years. India have a superior T20 World Cup head-to-head record against Australia, winning three out of the five games.
Head believes that Australia's recent performances in the ICC against India still hurt their fans. He believes if both meet each other in the summit clash, the Men in Blue will come with the intention of revenge.
"It would be nice. It would be nice to be in the final. I think everyone in India would love that, especially considering what's happened in the last two finals. So, I'm sure India wants some revenge at some point. There would be good theater around it if that were the case. Let's hope that we're in it, and let's hope you're in it, and we'll see what happens," Head said in an interview with Times of India.

India is in good hands: Travis Head
Head has hurt India's side most, scoring match-winning centuries in the ICC final defeats. But he is aware of the threat the Men in Blue pose, particularly with a star-studded lineup led by Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah, coming from strong IPL campaigns.
"India is in good hands. I think you could probably name four or five teams that are going to be in the mix. Playing an attacking brand of cricket is crucial for them. With Rohit and Virat, and their exceptional bowling led by star bowler Bumrah, who has also been outstanding in the IPL, their chances are high. Their chances are probably similar to the three or four other teams that are in contention," he added.

He also spoke about Rohit Sharma's leadership and if he would be under any kind of pressure going into this 30-day tournament.
"I don't think Rohit has too much to worry about. He's been an exceptional leader for a period of time and is an exceptional player as well. So, I don't think there's any issue from that side of things," Head concluded.
India played a warm-up game against Bangladesh leading up to the World Cup and will face Ireland in their opening game on June 05 in New York. On the other hand, Australia will play their first league game against Oman on June 06 in Barbados.
